Citizens United v. Federal Election Commission./ The End Of The Republic

The corporate lobbyists prowling the halls of Congress are more powerful than ever.

Why? Because one year ago, the Supreme Court gave the bosses in charge of these lobbyists the right to unleash unlimited sums of money to reward lawmakers who pander to corporate interests — and punish any who get in their way.

This is no way to run a democracy.

Help restore democracy to the people. Sign the petition for a constitutional amendment to reverse the Supreme Court’s ruling in Citizens United v. Federal Election Commission.

Friday, January 21, is the one-year anniversary of Citizens United v. FEC. Concerned citizens are mobilizing demonstrations in Washington, D.C., and across the nation, and we are delivering your signatures to Congress.

The consequences of Citizens United v. FEC have been devastating. In last fall’s elections, corporate spending soared, and sources of outside spending were kept secret.

This outside money was a major factor in 80 percent of the races where power changed handsthe corporations received a substantial return on their investment.*

Now, any lawmaker who is interested in standing against corporate interests has to figure out how to say ‘no’ to corporate lobbyists wielding the resources to replace him or her with a more corporate-friendly lawmaker.

Let’s show Corporate America what democracy really looks like. We’ve got a long battle ahead, but together, we can win.
